The banana cream pie recipe is one of my favorite pie recipes. If you are learning how to make a pie and love banana recipes, you can make the banana pie completely from scratch or you can use a package of pudding mix. Both will turn out delicious.
Bananas have been a favorite fruit in many countries around the world.
They have been the staple starch in many of the tropical countries. It
makes sense that so many delicious banana recipes have been developed.
Bananas are eaten deep fried, baked in the skin, used in breads, cookies, cakes , pancakes and ice cream; so why not a delicious banana cream pie recipe. Top the cream mixture with a homemade meringue recipe and you will have a magnificent pie recipe.
This is the best banana cream pie recipe you will ever make.
In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and set aside; place whites in separate bowl for meringue.
In a heavy pan, stir together the flour, cornstarch, sugar and salt; gradually stir in the milk until smooth.
Cook mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil; stir and boil for another minute.
Stir half of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks; pour yolk mixture back into the pan.
Cook and stir for another two minutes; remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.
Set mixture aside to cool slightly while preparing meringue.
Fold diced bananas into custard filling; spoon into baked pie crust.
Spread meringue over pie filling; bake until meringue is light brown at 350 F degrees.
MERINGUE RECIPE
Beat egg whites and cream of tarter on medium speed until foamy.
Continue beating on medium while gradually adding sugar.
Increase mixing speed to high and beat until stiff peaks start to form.
Add vanilla and continue beating until meringue holds its shape when lifted with a spoon.
Spread over pie and bake until light brown.
Let cool and then refrigerate.
Cook pie filling using the 1 ¾ cups milk. Fold in the marshmallows, cover with plastic wrap and chill. Fold in the whipped cream. Slice bananas in the bottom of the baked crust. Pour in the pudding over the bananas. Refrigerate for several hours before serving.
Prepare pastry and place in 9 inch pie plate; bake.
Combine orange sections and juice with lemon juice, banana and sugar; let stand 1 hour.
Soften gelatin in cold water; add boiling water and stir until dissolved.
Add gelatin mixture to fruit mixture; chill until it begins to thicken.
Whip cream and fold into gelatin mixture; turn into baked cooled pie crust.
Garnish with additional whipped cream, mint leaves and berries.

Combine and mix condensed milk, pudding mix and vanilla in large bowl with whisk until smooth.
Fold in whipped cream; spoon evenly into baked pie shell.
Combine reserved ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk and chocolate in small saucepan.
Cook chocolate glaze over medium heat until thickened.
NOTE: If needed, add enough milk to make fudge sauce thin enough to drizzle.
Garnish with sliced bananas, maraschino cherries and nuts.
Drizzle chocolate glaze over top of bananas, cherries and nuts; chill at least 3 hours.
Serves 8.
This delicious banana cream pie recipe has chocolate and peanut butter.
Prepare nutty graham cracker crust.
Prepare pudding and pie filling as directed on package EXCEPT decrease milk to 1 ¾ cups.
Remove from heat and thoroughly stir in peanut butter; let stand 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
Slice bananas thinly into pie shell; pour filling over bananas.
Press a piece of plastic wrap directly on top of filling; refrigerate until firm at least 3 hours.
Remove plastic wrap and garnish with whipped cream and chocolate dipped banana slices.
NUTTY GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST
Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
Combine and mix all ingredients; press into bottom and on sides of ungreased pie plate.
Bake 10 minutes; set on rack to cool.
NOTE: How to make CHOCOLATE DIPPED BANANAS? Cut banana into ¼ inch thick diagonally cut slices. Dip slices into lemon juice and drain. Heat ½ cup chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon solid shortening over low heat stirring occasionally until melted. Dip each banana slice half way into melted chocolate and then dip into chopped peanuts. Place slices on wax paper and refrigerate until set.
Dip all banana slices into lemon juice; drain and set aside.
Combine dry vanilla pudding mix and dry whipped topping mix.
Add milk and vanilla; beat on low speed of mixer until blended; INCREASE SPEED and beat until thick.
Pour 1/3 of mixture into crust; layer slices of bananas on top (Save ones for garnish)
Pour remaining filling into the crust; chill 2 hours.
Garnish with crushed vanilla wafers and sliced bananas before serving.
