Combine bran and milk; let stand until milk is absorbed.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
Cream shortening gradually adding sugar until light and fluffy; beat in egg.

Fill greased pans 2/3 full; bake about 25 minutes until lightly browned.
Let set 5 minutes to cool in pan; remove from pan and cool completely.
